CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston Women's Tennis team concluded a very successful season as they fell to Tennessee in the first round of the NCAA Women's Tennis Championship this past weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.

The Cougars earned the regular season Southern Conference Title as well as the Southern Conference Tournament Championship. CofC made its fourth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

CofC Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo said he feels like his program is making a lot of progress.

"I couldn't have asked more from this team," he said. They played hard against the SEC runner-up Lady Vols. It was a great tennis match in which Tennessee was a little too tough in the end."

"As a coaching staff we are getting better at preparing our team for the NCAA Championships as evident in this very close match," he added. "We look forward to having our recruits join our team next year to go along with our seven returning players and hope to defend our Southern Conference Championship and go further in the NCAA Tournament."
