SAN ANTONIO - College of Charleston senior middle blocker Sarah Havel has been named a Lowe's Senior CLASS First All-American, the organization announced last night at the NCAA Women's Volleyball Final Four.

A native of Carmel, Ind., Havel finished her CofC career with a stellar senior season, earning AVCA All-South Region Honorable Mention accolades, First Team All-Southern Conference honors and a place on the SoCon All-Tournament team.

Havel led the conference with 1.05 blocks per set while also finishing third on the team with 334 kills (2.51/set) for an attack percentage of .279.

Hawaii's Kanani Danielson won the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, which is chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women's volleyball coaches, national volleyball media and fans. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.

Out of the ten finalists, Havel finished in the top five of the cumulative votes, earning her a place on the first team. Havel is the first College of Charleston student-athlete to garner a spot on the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award First Team All-America list.
