CofC Volleyball Signs Kari Fidelholtz For 2012
Fidelholtz currently attends Marian High School in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., where she led the Mustangs to a district tournament championship before falling in the MSHAA regional semifinals in 2011. The team was ranked fifth in the state of Michigan by MaxPreps.
Fidelholtz was a team captain in 2011, earning All-Catholic school honors and All-State honorable mention as she finished second on the team with 2.7 kills per set and a .316 hitting percentage.
In 2010, she earned All-League, All-Region and All-State honorable mention nods as Marian won the Class A state championship. The Mustangs also won state in 2009 and was the runner-up in 2008.
Fidelholtz played for the Michigan Elite Volleyball Academy, leading that club to a National Division Championship in 2010.
"I am very excited that Kari has decided to join our CofC volleyball family," head coach Jason Kepner said. "She comes from a great high school and club program that plays at a very high level. Kari is an athlete and all-around player. Her addition will definitely add some depth on the outside and the right side. She is an extremely hard worker and has an outstanding attitude that will make her fun to coach."
A member of the National Honor Society and a school mentor, Fidelholtz worked at the Problem Pregnancy Center in 2010, providing aid to pregnant teens and women in difficult situations.
Kari's older sister, Katie, is currently a sophomore at Miami (OH) University.
Fidelholtz will join middle blocker Grace Rebarchak (Mobile, Ala.) in the 2012 College of Charleston volleyball signing class.
