Chattanooga comes in with an 11-3 overall record and 4-1 mark in conference play. The Mocs are led in scoring by Ashlen Dewart at 16.1 points per game and average over 70 points per game as a team.
IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME
With their 82-74 win over Richmond Dec. 28 the Cougars beat an Atlantic 10 conference opponent for the first time since a win against Charlotte in the 1980-81 season.
HARRIS EARNS SOCON PLAYER OF THE WEEK
This week senior Latisha Harris was awarded SoCon Player of the Week. Harris had two double-doubles including 20 points and 13 rebounds in the Cougars win at Charleston Southern. It was the first time CofC women's basketball has earned the honor since Deidra Jones on Nov. 24, 2009. Harris recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds in the Cougars win vs. Georgia Southern. Harris' 67 career blocks currently rank fifth on the Cougars all-time list.
BROWN DROPPING DIMES
Junior Jillian Brown became the seventh player in CofC women's basketball to reach 300 career assists Monday in the Cougars game against Davidson. Brown is fifth all-time with 307 career assists and leads the nation in double-digit assist games this season with five.
FOUR IN DOUBLE FIGURES
For the second time this season the Cougars had four players score in double figures in the win vs. Richmond. Seniors Megan Fischer (18), Latisha Harris (15), Cathryn Hardy (13) and junior Alyssa Frye (15) all scored in double-figures. Hardy and Harris also posted double-digit rebounding games to register double-doubles in the games. For Hardy it was her first career double-double, for Harris her 12th career double-double.
STRONG SUPPORTING CAST
The Cougars have gotten excellent production from their reserves this season as they have combined to score in double-figures in 11 straight games, including 18 or more points in eight of those 11 games. In the Cougars game at Samford they had 20 bench points, led by 12 from junior Afreyea Tolbert.
SHARING THE BALL
Against Richmond the Cougars had 20 assists on 27 field goals. The team has nearly doubled their assist total from last year through the first 11 games of the season, and has had 15 or more assists three times.
