SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The College of Charleston placed four student-athletes on the Academic All-Southern Conference Team for the 2012-13 winter season, as announced by the league office Wednesday.
Junior Alyssa Frye represented the women’s basketball team on the list and from the women’s indoor track & field team, junior Christa Horrocks and sophomores Ali Beauregard and Lorna Doucette earned recognition.
“I’m proud of Alyssa for this honor,” CofC women’s basketball head coach Natasha Adair said. “Alyssa is very dedicated to academics and has done a great job on and off the court this year.”
“We have a lot of younger kids on our team and it’s great to have Christa, Ali and Lorna setting a positive example for them,” CofC track & field head coach Amy Seago said. “They have done a great job in the classroom and are a strong part of our program.”
To be eligible, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA entering the winter season and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams’ competitions during the recently concluded winter campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least 24 credit hours in the previous two semesters.
