SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference announced its 2013 all-conference teams Monday afternoon, and the College of Charleston earned seven distinct honors. The teams were voted on by the league’s coaches, and coaches could not vote on their own players in the balloting.

The Cougars were represented by Hope Klicker, Chandler Frisbie, Ashton Jarrett and Kelsey Hodgson on the first team; Stephanie Saylors on the second team; and Frisbie and Rebecca Mueller on the all-freshman team.

“It is a great honor for these players to be recognized among the league’s best by the conference coaches,” said head coach Shelly Hoerner. “It is an accomplishment for our players as individuals, but we are more focused on what we set out to accomplish as a team.

Klicker (Walla Walla, Wash.), a sophomore pitcher, led the pitching staff with 155.0 innings pitched this season and threw 19 complete games. She finished the regular season with a 17-9 record and 2.57 ERA. Klicker struck out 133 batters against just 30 walks and held her opponents to a .230 batting average.

Jarrett (Hanahan, S.C.) was a first-team second baseman who batted .291 in the regular season and led the Cougars with 11 stolen bases. As the Cougar leadoff, Jarrett maintained a .314 on-base percentage and scored 25 runs.

Frisbie (Lawrenceville, Ga.) earned first-team and all-freshman honors with a .315 batting average during her rookie campaign. Out of the cleanup spot, Frisbie tied for second on the team with 27 RBIs and hit four homeruns and 10 extra-base hits, good for a .436 slugging percentage.

Hodgson (Woodstock, Ga.) earned first-team honors as well after pacing the Cougar bats with a .333 batting average and 44 RBIs so far on her junior season. Hodgson hit 15 homeruns in the regular season, the second most in CofC history. Hodgson’s 1.170 on-base plus slugging (OPS) is a testament to the productivity she’s brought to the Cougar lineup.

Saylors (Easley, S.C.) threw 107.1 innings with a 3.26 ERA to earn second-team honors in her senior season. She wrapped up the regular season with a 14-7 record after earning wins in nine of her last 10 appearances to earn Pitcher of the Month honors in the month of April.

Joining Frisbie on the all-freshman team was Mueller (Fair Oaks, Calif.), a high-impact left fielder who ended the regular season with a .272 batting average and .389 on-base percentage. She has 23 RBIs thus far this season.

CofC (34-18, 15-8 SoCon) enters the SoCon Championship as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 7 Western Carolina in the opening round on Wednesday, May 8 at 12 p.m. on the campus of UNC Greensboro.
