Sherrier led the Cougars to a thrilling meet victory over the rival Davidson Wildcats in the last home meet of the 2011-12 season on Saturday. He won first place in the 200-meter freestyle (1:54.31) and the 400-meter freestyle. A psychology major, Sherrier capped the day by swimming the final leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay, touching the wall first to seal the meet victory for College of Charleston.
Gmerek was selected for the SoCon All-Tournament team after scoring two goals in the Cougars' semifinal win over Georgia Southern on Friday. The victory set a new program record for the Cougars as the squad reached 13 wins in a season for the first time. Gmerek, a hospitality management major, was also named First Team All-SoCon earlier in the week.
