CHARLESTON, S.C. - Junior skipper Ben Spector (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and sophomore thrower Christine Klinar (Fredericksburg, Va.) were named College of Charleston Student-Athletes of the Week sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of March 26.

Spencer led the No. 6-ranked CofC coed sailing team to victory at the Szambecki Team Race hosted by Old Dominion on March 24-25 in Norfolk, Va. The Cougars compiled a 6-1 record after the final round ahead of No. 10 Hobart & William Smith (6-1), No. 9 St. Mary's College of Maryland (5-2), No. 3 Roger Williams (2-5), No. 2 Georgetown (3-4), No. 12 Old Dominion (3-4), No. 14 Navy (2-5) and No. 7 Stanford (1-6). Spector was lauded by head coach Ward Cromwell for having a great weekend of racing as one of the newcomers to the team's core group of sailors.

Klinar set a new CofC women's track and field school record in the javelin throw at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by South Carolina on March 24 in Columbia, S.C. She placed fifth in the competition with a throw of 38.12 meters (125-01 feet) to break her own school record, which she set last year with a throw of 37.59 meters.
