2011: Competed in six meets for the Cougars during the 2011 season...Started off the season with two top-10 finishes at the CofC Invitational (6th, 25:56) and the Citadel Invitational (7th, 27:46)...Set the third best time in school history at the SoCon Championships, crossing the finish line in 25:35 for the 8K race.
2010: Had a fantastic freshman season in which he made the All-Freshman team with a 28th place finish at the Southern Conference Championships...Ran a personal best of 25:48 for 8k at the Charlotte Invitational...Competed at the NCAA Southeast Regional in Louisville, Ky.
Marietta High School: Member of a team that finished 21st at the 5A State Cross Country Championships...Named to the All-Cobb County Cross Country Team in 2009...Region champion in 2008 and 2009...Holds the school record in the 1,600 meters with a time of 4:23.37...Finished seventh in the 1,600 meters at the state championships in 2010.
Personal: Andrew is the son of Rex and Viki Nelson...In addition to running Nelson also enjoys backpacking, paddling and roadtripping.
