Men's Swimmers Garner Weekly Conference Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - College of Charleston junior Matt Sherrier (Boulder, Colo.) has been selected as the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week, while teammate Peter Gibbons (Fairfax, Va.) and VMI's junior Dallas Disbro were selected as the CCSA Men's Co-Diver of the Week for meets competed Oct. 10-17, it was announced today by the League.

Sherrier won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:44.32 in the Cougars' season-opening meet at Virginia Tech last Saturday.  Sherrier was runner-up in the 200 free, clocking a time of 1:42.47 just 0.17 seconds behind the first place finisher.  He also was the third leg in the first-place 200-freestyle relay team, swimming a split of 21.42. 

Gibbons won the 3-meter event at Virginia Tech last weekend with a score of 233.45. The sophomore also had a strong showing in the 1-meter as he scored 251.20. 

Disbro earned the Keydets' first diver of the week honor in two years as he took second place at North Carolina State in the 1-meter event with a score of 240.97. His dive was 50 points better than his personal-best to rank him No. 4 in the CCSA record book.

The Cougars are back in action this weekend in Statesboro, Ga., where they will swim Georgia Southern and Savannah College of Art and Design on Saturday afternoon.
