Swimming and Diving Bested at POD Meet

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The College of Charleston swimming and diving teams remained competitive yet took on losses at the POD meet held at Savage Natatorium this weekend.

The women's team suffered losses to James Madison University (294-54), Northeastern University (291-62), Old Dominion University (285-66) and William and Mary (284-67) while the men fell to ODU (269-78) and William and Mary (228-121).

CofC claimed third place in the 400-yard medley relay at 3:34.07 by Jackson Marine, Brantley Reynolds, and brothers David and Matt Sherrier.

The men also took third in the 200-yard freestyle relay event with Brantley Reynolds, Blake Buchanan, Eric Craig and Greg Karel combining to post a 1:28.66 mark.

The Sherrier brothers claimed second and third place in the 200-yard freestyle event with Matt Sherrier posting a 1:42.56 with David Sherrier touching just behind him at 1:43.71.

Matt Sherrier won the 500-yard freestyle event with a 4:38.31 time and a more-than two-second cushion.

David Sherrier placed third in the 100-yard freestyle as well at 47.34.

The Cougars touched third in the 200-yard medley relay at 1:38.80 with Marine, Reynolds, Patrick Foos and Karel.

CofC locked up third place in the 400-yard freestyle with Craig, Buchanan and the Sherrier brothers teaming for a 1:37.85 time.

Next weekend, the women's team will swim East Carolina and CSAA-foe Campbell while the men duel ECU.
