CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's track & field team will travel to Cullowhee, N.C. as they get ready for competition in the 2012 Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship April 21-22 at the Catamount Athletic Complex in Cullowhee.

The championship will begin Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with the men's decathlon, followed by the women's heptathlon events at 9:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Sunday at 5:50 p.m.

Last year sophomore Dena O'Brien won the 5,000-meter race and teammate and now senior Kristen Wolfe won the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

The championship is free to the public.  Live results, daily recaps, daily photos and video highlights can be found on the Southern Conference web site, www.SoConSports.com.

In the indoor championship meet the Cougars finished in sixth-place with 59 points, their most points in program history. O'Brien was named Most Outstanding Athlete and Most Outstanding Track Performer, winning two events and getting second in a third event.

"I think we are ready for this meet," CofC Head Coach Amy Seago said. "I think everyone is rested and excited about going out there and competing to the best of our abilities."
