SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston women's track and field freshman RoShani Glover was honored by the conference as she earned Southern Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the meets held over the weekend. The selections are made by the league's track and field coaches.
Glover jumped 11.89 meters (just over 39 feet) in the triple jump to finish fourth at the Wake Forest Invitational last Saturday. She is currently leading the conference standings in the triple jump. Her jump is also second all-time in CofC women's track & field history, four centimeters off the school record.
Glover finished second in the triple jump, third in the long jump and fifth in the high jump at the 2012 South Carolina State Championship.
"We are very proud of RoShani," CofC head coach Amy Seago said. "That's a great jump and even more impressive is that it was achieved in only her second collegiate competition. We expected her to make an immediate impact for us and she's proven she is adapting well to college-level training."
Up next Glover and the Cougars travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the Gene Anderson Invitational on Feb. 2.
