CHARLESTON, S.C. - The home-hosted Bob Bavier Team Race regatta is up next for the second-ranked College of Charleston coed sailing team to be held on Feb. 25-26 at the J. Stewart Sailing Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

The Cougars, who have started the spring season off strong with first-place finishes at the SAISA Open on Feb. 12 and the Charleston Spring Coed Intersectional on Feb. 19, were among the top 5 ranked programs in the country as the first spring Sailing World College Rankings, presented by Sperry Top-Sider, was released on Feb. 23. The CofC women also moved up to No. 5 in the women's rankings.

CofC will sail the match-race teams of junior All-American Christopher "Mac" Mace (Newport Beach, Calif.), senior All-American Perry Emsiek (Corona del Mar, Calif.) and junior Jeff Aschieris (Newport Beach, Calif.), senior Zeke Horowitz (Sarasota, Fla.), junior Cory DeCollibus (Duxbury, Mass.) and junior Brooks Clark (Newport Beach, Calif.), and junior Ben Spector (Santa Clarita, Calif.), senior All-American Alyssa Aitken (Sandwich, Mass.) and senior Sam Stokes (Norfolk, Va.).

"Our core nine this weekend are the exact same team which finished third at nationals last year, with the exception of graduating senior skipper Jackson Benvenutti and the addition of Ben Spector," CofC Head Coach Ward Cromwell said. "This cohesiveness should prove to be beneficial in our attempt to improve on last year's results."

Junior Sarah Somes (Grosse Pointe Park, Mich.) and sophomore Carly Shevitz (Santa Barbara, Calif.) may also compete this weekend.

For fans interested in supporting the Cougars and attending this weekend's home regatta, the best place to spectate is the outside wall of the marina at the Walker Sailing Center. Racing will take place right on the Cooper River by the marina in Charleston Harbor beginning at 10 a.m. (ET).
