Cougar Sailors Win Navy Spring Women's Intersectional

The College of Charleston Sailing team finished first in the A-Division and second in the B-Division to win the Navy Spring Women's Intersectional by 25 points over St. Mary's.  Charleston finished with 153 points in the event held in Annapolis, Md., Mar 13-14, besting 16 other teams for the title.

Allison Blecher and Alyssa Aitken led the A-Division to first with 82 points after leading the Cougars to four first-place finishes and nine other top fives.  Shannon Heausler, Molly O'Neil and Rebecca Bestoso sailed in the B-Division and posted 71 points and second behind 13 top five finishes.

The Cougars also competed at the St. Mary's Team Race in St. Mary's College, Md., and went 2-7 to tie for eighth with Connecticut. The Cougars defeated Connecticut College and UVM for their two wins.

Charleston next competes in three events Mar. 20-21, with the St. Mary's Women's Intersectional in St. Mary's College, Md., the Truxtun Umstead Intersectional in Annapolis, Md., and North Points #3 in Knoxville, Tenn.
