CofC Sailors Qualify for ICSA National Semi-finals

The College of Charleston sailing team won five races and finished in the top five in 14 others as the Cougars finished second at the South Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (SAISA) Co-ed Dinghy Championship held April 10 in St. Petersburg, Fla.

Charleston posted 60 points, just 13 from winner South Florida.  The Cougars, along with the Bulls, Eckerd, Miami and Florida, who finished third, fourth and fifth respectively, qualified for the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) National Championship Semifinals.

Zeke Horowitz (Sarasota, Fla.) and Perry Emsiek (Corona del Mar, Calif.) sailed for the Cougars in the A-Division and posted a second-placed finish with 30 points, only six from USF, which finished first.

Mac Mace (Newport Beach, Fla.) and Corinna DeCollibus (Duxbury, Mass.) led the B-Division to third with 30 points, being edged by Eckerd for second with 28 points.

The ICSA National Championship Semifinals will be held May 1-2 in Seattle, Wash., and Charleston, S.C.

The Cougars next host the SAISA Team Race Championship April 17-18 and travel to New London, Conn., for the Wick/Shrew Women's Intersectional
