CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston coed sailing team will host the SAISA Open (420) in its spring season opener on Feb. 12-13 at the J. Stewart Walker Sailing Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.

CofC will be one of 18 teams in the north and south intersectional regatta field including Florida Gulf Coast, USF, Georgia Tech, Rollins College, Florida, Florida Atlantic, Miami (Fla.), Jacksonville, Clemson, UNC Wilmington, NC State, Eckerd College, Tennessee, Florida Tech, Florida State, Auburn and Duke.

Sophomore Chris Banholzer (Hartland, Wis.) and sophomore Alexis Scott (Newport Beach, Calif.) will compete in the A-Division race, while freshmen Elizabeth Chambers (Mooresville, N.C.) and Courtney Alexander will represent the Cougars in the B-Division. Racing will begin at 10 a.m. (ET) each day.

"We are really looking forward to hosting SAISA this weekend in Charleston," CofC Head Coach Ward Cromwell said. "It's part of a point series in order to attend the national qualifier later in the spring and a great event to kick-off the season with teams within our district."

For fans interested in supporting the Cougars and attending this weekend's regatta, the best place to spectate is the outside wall of the marina at the Walker Sailing Center. Racing will take place right on the Cooper River by the marina in Charleston Harbor.
