Equestrian Finishes Fourth at First Show of Season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The College of Charleston equestrian team came away in fourth place at the first show of the season for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 5 Region 3 hosted by Florida State at Little Pond Farm. CofC claimed three individual champions in a field of 14 schools and over 200 riders.

CofC's individual winners were Malka Fox-Epstein in Novice Flat (section B), Amanda Mazzola in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter (section C) and Sara von Schweinitz in the Walk Trot (section A).

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) took home the top honors in the show after winning eight individual categories. In second was Georgia Southern followed by University of Central Florida and CofC.

With 18 member institutions, Region 3 is the largest region in the IHSA.

Head coach Bob Story and the rest of the team return to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 when the Cougars compete in SCAD's host show.
