CHARLESTON, S.C. - College of Charleston Head Coach Amy Seago has announced the release of the Cross Country Schedule for 2011, highlighted by the Cougars hosting the 2011 Southern Conference Championship.

The Cougars return nearly their entire roster on both the men's and women's sides and are poised for a successful season. The 2010 season saw four different athletes crack the top-10 all-time lists and two school records were broken. Rising senior Christian Bailey set the school record for the 8,000-meter run and rising sophomore Dena O'Brien set the best mark for the 6,000-meter race.

"I'm excited to build on the positive momentum we gained from last season," Seago said. "With the people we have coming back and the newcomers we are adding I think we will have a successful season."

The Cougars will begin the season at the Eye Opener meet in Spartanburg, S.C. on Sept. 2. The next week the team hosts the College of Charleston Invite, serving as a preview for the Southern Conference Championship.

After a week off the Cougars stay home for the Citadel Invitational (Sept. 24) and then travel to Charlotte, N.C. for the UNC Charlotte Invitational (Sept. 30).

The next weekend the Cougars compete at both the Blue Ridge Invitational (Oct. 14) and the highly competitive Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind., on the same course the NCAA National Championship will be contested in November.

The Cougars return home Oct. 29 to host the 2011 Southern Conference Championship.

"We are very excited to be hosting the conference championship this season and are eager to accept this responsibility," Seago said.

The post-season schedule will have the NCAA Regional Nov. 12 and the NCAA National Championship Nov. 21.
