CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior forward Antwaine Wiggins (Greeneville, Tenn.) was named College of Charleston Student-Athlete of the Week sponsored by Piggly Wiggly for the week of Feb. 13.
Wiggins led the CofC men's basketball team to a 2-0 week and its third-straight victory in Southern Conference play with a 62-58 victory over Western Carolina on Feb. 9 and an 86-78 win over league leader Davidson on Feb. 11. The Cougars handed Davidson only its second loss against a SoCon opponent. Wiggins registered a game-high 24 points along with a game-high 10 rebounds versus the Wildcats. It marked his sixth career double-double performance and fourth of the season and 10th career 20-point outing. He has now scored in double figures in 24-of-26 games played this season including 15 points and seven rebounds against Western Carolina. For the week, Wiggins averaged a team-leading 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He currently ranks third in the league in scoring and seventh in rebounding - only one of four SoCon players ranked in the top 10 in both categories this year. Wiggins has recorded 1,240 career points to date which ranks 20th all-time in career scoring in the CofC record books.
