Cougars Take Two From #18 Tulane, LMU Friday

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The College of Charleston beach volleyball team opened the CofC Beach Classic in style on Friday with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over No. 18 Tulane, and a 4-1 win over Lincoln Memorial.
Against LMU, McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) registered a 21-11, 21-17 victory in the second flight, while Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Riana Brennan (Los Gatos, Calif.) posted a 21-10, 21-14 at No. 3. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) emerged with a 19-21, 21-11, 15-8 win at No. 4, while Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) and Taylor Foley (Agoura Hills, Calif.) won 21-13, 21-14 in the fifth flight.
The Cougars fell behind early against Tulane, dropping the first two flights before cutting the Green Wave advantage to 2-1 with a 21-18, 17-21, 15-12 victory at No. 3 for Madison and Brennan. Beckman and Rachel then evened the tally at 2-2 with a 20-22, 21-13, 17-15 win, before Freed and Foley completed the comeback with a 21-12, 21-17 victory in the fifth flight.
Charleston will wrap up its CofC Beach Classic on Saturday with matches against Lincoln Memorial at 12 pm and UNCW at 1:30 pm.
